Henry Ford Case Studies

Patient <___> complaining of swelling right knee.  Improvement with the intramuscular corticosteroid injection that I gave her about a week or so ago.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION:
EXTREMITIES:  Right knee is swollen and slightly warmth to touch when compared to the mid shaft and tibia.  No tenderness on compression of the superior pouch.

PROCEDURE:  Right knee was aspirated using a 1-1/2-inch long 21-gauge needle attached to a 10-mL syringe in the lateral approach to the superior pouch after cleansing the skin with Betadine using ethyl chloride for anesthesia.  20 mL of clear fluid were removed and 80 mg of Depo-Medrol was instilled
